Pediatrics Medical Director Dan Mackey, M.D.
I view my role as the Pediatric Medical Director as assisting the pediatricians to provide the best pediatric care to our patients. his includes facilitating patient access to quality care and to creating an environment where subspecialty care complements the services provided by our Primary Care Pediatric providers.
I was motivated to become a physician by my parents who encouraged me to pursue my interest in science and caring for people. I was also encouraged by the physicians I met during both my undergraduate and medical training. These physicians demonstrated what it meant to embrace life-long learning and how this could be incorporated into caring for people.
I absolutely love taking care of children as they transform into young people. It truly is a privilege to watch these children grow and develop from infants to children and finally become young, thinking, mature adults. I really enjoy interacting with the kids; this is truly the best part of my day. I have come to appreciate it is easy to care for my patients, when I care so much about my patients.
As a pediatrician I view my job as a physician assisting families in raising their children. This includes educating them about vaccines as well as providing anticipatory guidance about child safety and finally the best treatment options for health and illness.
Partnering with the Sisters of St. Joseph Orange has allowed me to align myself with a Christian organization, which shares the same commitment of providing quality care, service and assistance to those in need.
